Winter Storm

Winter made its first visit this week. It started with rain on Tuesday. Now, I hate the cold rain of winter storms, but how can one complain about this?

That's the view from a fourth floor window at the hospital where I work. I've never before seen a rainbow so low to the ground, and with a faint double above it too!

Overnight, the storm turned to snow. Here's the same view on Wednesday.

Right after that photo was taken, the sun went behind the clouds and the day became dark and gray. At times it was snowing so hard that I could hardly see more than a hundred feet.

Ahhh... but here's what makes all the dark, gray, skies worthwhile.

Of course, even when it's snowing, if you look down from the gray skies you see the wonderful transformation and delights that snow brings.

These are from Linda's morning walk around the neighborhood. Balancing snow on the end of a leaf stem is quite a feat.

I went for a walk near the hospital on my lunch break.

The southwest part of Flagstaff got more snow than other areas. My coworkers measured 5 inches on their driveway. We had just a couple of inches on our yard this morning.

Linda found snow on top of leaves on Wednesday. This morning we had leaves on top of snow in the front yard. God has a sense of humor.

The weather guys say it's a strong El NiƱo year so this is just the beginning. Stay tuned!
