Delft

Market day in Delft is always a “must do” for us. We see the same vendors each time and it just “feels right”.

Video: Fishmonger Hawking His Catch

We’ve gotten a little more adventuresome on this trip. We tried herring on board the ship (no thank you), and here at the market we tried Kibbeling with dipping sauce. Now this is good stuff!

No visit to Delft is complete without a visit to Knotten. It’s located on one of our favorite little canals. This time we visited the famous “posing wall” where they shoot many of the photos for their Facebook page – so of course I had to take a photo of Linda against the wall!

Now, just so you don’t think the canal is full of trash – part of what you see in the above photo is actually art. Some of the art also looks a bit like trash, but with art it can be hard to tell.

I don’t know what the green stuff in the canal is called. It is definitely not algae. I saw that someone called it “green pebble plants”, which is a good description. Several canals were thick with it, whatever it is called!

The day finished with a wonderful sunset and my new favorite beer.
