We had hoped to find a weaving store in Haarlem after our visit to the Zandhaas Molen. Unfortunately, we were not successful at that, but Haarlem is still a great place to visit. Even if there is no specific reason to visit a city here, the architecture and the atmosphere are enough to make it worth the visit.
The oldest museum in the Netherlands is the Teylers Museum in Haarlem. We had never visited so we decided to explore it. Since I’m not a scientific type, I found the paintings more fascinating than the scientific instruments. I did find it very interesting to see their fossils from some of the same periods that I learned about when I worked at the Museum of Northern Arizona.
It was a great day to wander the town with some Patat Frites with Fritessaus and just take in the sights.
The day finished with dinner in Leiden at our favorite Pannenkoeken rstaurant - Oudt Leyden 't Pannekoekenhuysje. Here are a few shots of the town of Leiden, followed by dinner.
