Red Rocks Classic 2013

The 2nd weekend of September is always a highlight since it is time for the annual Porsche 914 get-together known as the "Red Rocks Classic". This year the event was held in Durango, CO, with 16 914s in attendance. Some came from as far as Tennessee and the central California coast.

The Saturday drive is one of the highlights of the event. This year the drive was from Durango, up Hwy 550 to Silverton & Ouray, and return after some time to wander around the towns and take in the sites. Here are some images from Saturday.

This one is courtesy of my friend, Ed Morrow, whose shot came out better than my own.

I hate these moths when they get in the house - they're the size of a small bird. It was pretty cool to see one feeding on these wildflowers.

The 2nd weekend in September is also the weekend for the annual quilt show in Silverton.

This road just screams "Got 914?"

After the drive, Mike & I visited the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway Museum.

The day finished with a great sunset and dinner at the local country club.
