Amsterdam

The day started with an interesting sight - the lights were on in the neighboring greenhouse.

Fortunately, rain wasn't too much of a factor today until late in the afternoon. The cool temperatures and wind made time in museums a welcome time to warm up!

We started the day by checking out the Amsterdam's Park & Ride program to see how it works and how long it would take us to make it to the English Reformed Church in the Begijnhof. We're planning to worship there next Sunday and don't want to show up late!

The English Reformed Church has worshiped here since 1607.
The Begijnhof is a ring of almshouses that provides an island of calm in the insanity of Amsterdam.

Mmmm... Dutch Frijtes with mayo @ Febo!

Next up was the Rijksmuseum. The collection on display is much abbreviated because of extensive remodeling, but still well worth the visit.

The display included 3 paintings by Pieter de Hooch, whom we've been told  is one of Linda's relatives on her Dad's side.

On the way to the Van Gogh Museum, we ran across the big "I amsterdam" sign - you just have to get your photo taken!

A quick spin through the Van Gogh Museum rounded out the day. Our favorite Van Gogh works are located at another museum, but I liked these pieces.

A scene along the walk back to the train.
